The vision

Four things we are building for.

Zaarour Gate is a haven for every family seeking stress-free, sustainable mountain living. These are the commitments the project is being designed against.

    Family

    A haven built around households, not units. The plan starts from how a family actually spends a weekend, a season, a decade.

    The layouts are being drawn now. The starting point is already settled: the household, not the unit.

    Sustainability

    Design that gives back to the mountain. The measures are being specified now, and we will publish them rather than describe them.

    Energy, water, materials and green space are being specified now, and published when they are signed off. Not before.

    Nature

    The scenery is the amenity. Sannine's eastern slopes, valley panoramas, and four true seasons — snow in winter, cool air above the summer haze.

    Verified geography. Nothing here is pending.

    Facilities

    Facilities are part of the brief from the outset, and there is more still to be unveiled.

    Deliberately still under wraps. There is more here than we are ready to name.

Why Zaarour

The closest mountain to Beirut, and a mountain all year.

Zaarour sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Sannine, in the Matn district of Mount Lebanon. It is the nearest mountain resort territory to the capital — around 35 kilometres, about forty-five minutes of driving — and it stays a mountain the whole year.

The slopes rise to roughly 2,000 metres. Winter brings real snow. Summer sits above the coastal haze, cool enough to want a jacket after dark. Spring and autumn are for walking. Four seasons, not two.
